Hector Astrom is an EECS undergraduate ('27) at MIT. His work is mainly
in BCI, applying deep
learning (foundation models) to improve neural decoding globally, agnostic of signal
modality or task. As a student of electrical engineering, he seeks to
understand the
complete system, from electrons to logic gates to motor outputs.
Recently, his work is shifting toward
hardware (EE + MechE), as he feels best when he works with his
hands. HTMAA, he believes, will be the perfect outlet for this.
Outside of making things, Hector does improv, lifts, and is a brother
of KS. Hector was born in Saltsjöbaden,
where life is mostly boating, fika, Mormor and tall trees.
