I’m an Arc Institute AIxBio fellow and a final year undergraduate student at MIT studying AI and bioengineering. I conduct research on, build, and engineer highly ethical, explainable AI to remove human-made bottlenecks.

I believe time, attention, and joy are our most valuable assets as humans. They, amongst other life experiences, have made me who I am today.

Week 3

Group Assignment

Task: Test the design rules for your 3D printer(s)

View the group assignment documentation here.

Design and 3D print an object that could not be made subtractively (small, few cm3, limited by printer time)

3D scan an object (and optionally print it)

3D Printing

Brainstorm

At the start of the week, I really struggled to brainstorm something that could not be made subtractively, but I still felt motivated to make. I’m also still struggling with the concept of not “wasting” my time making something that is “not useful” during this whole class.

Week 2

Group Assignment

The task is to demonstrate and compare the toolchains and development workflows for available embedded architectures.

View the group assignment documentation here.

Individual Assignment

Tasks:

browse through the data sheet for a microcontroller

write and test a program for an embedded system using a microcontroller to interact (with input &/or output devices) and communicate (with wired or wireless connections)

extra credit: assemble the system

extra credit: try different languages &/or development environments

Soldering the QPAD-Xiao

It has been a number of years since I have soldered, so this felt like somewhat familiar yet foreign territory. Thankfully, the extremely thorough QPAD soldering tutorial had my back.

Week 1

Group Assignment

Complete lab safety training.

I completed lab safety training on Thursday, September 17th, 2026.

Characterize your lasercutter’s focus, power, speed, rate, kerf, joint clearance and types.

Together with my teammates in the EECS shop group, we tested a sweep of PPI and speed percentage on the laser cutter in EDS. We kept power at 100%, varied rate and speed, and kept the laser in focus (as best we could with curvy cardboard).
After measuring the true size compared to the expected size of the squares, we identified that kerf varied with the changing settings.

Final Project

10/9/2026 Electronics Design

This week I will be designing an electronics board that aligns with the components I expect my final project to have. Specifically: input devices like an accelerometer (detecting x, y, z motion), and IMU (detecting roll, pitch, yaw), output devices like a vibrating motor, a screen display (OLED or e-ink?), and considering how to make things not tiny but decently small.

10/1/2026 Ideating with Anthony

After meeting with Anthony, I have gotten a bit more inspiration on my two ideas that I was thinking of pursuing. He particularly suggested I take a look into a previous student’s final project, Hannah Field. It was empowering to learn that there is a precedent for this, and I think this project has enough of a big jump of skills that I would still learn a ton from it. And I think it would be super motivating to work on something personal to myself!

Week 0

Assignment

This week, we needed to set up a website. It was my first time learning about static site generators. I chose to use Hugo instead of Jekyll because I have a good friend named Hugo, and I had already heard of Jekyll – so wanted to dive into the deep end.

Brainstorm

I had some fear diving into web dev because historically, HTML+CSS+JS have been a bit of a rocky experience for me. However, following the Hugo Quick Start was an easy enough setup.
