About

I am a PhD candidate in the department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT researching toy product design. My research looks at how technical, material, and pedagogical ideas came together to shape the emergence of toys as mass-produced design artifacts for domestic and educational environments in the late 19th century. Understanding how material choices, manufacturing constraints, and ideas about childhood shaped the history of toys gives me a foundation for my design research. I make construction kits and playthings that give children ways to build, experiment, and figure things out with their hands.
